The CH05 code (sometimes flashing 5 times on the LED display) is the standard LG indicator for a communication loop check failure. When your LG DUAL Inverter AC triggers CH05, the indoor blower may continue to blow ambient air while the outdoor condenser refuses to kick in.
Understanding the LG CH05 Mechanism LG Inverter systems communicate via a digital serial signal overlaid on the signal wire. This loop is powered by a rectifier circuit on the indoor unit PCB. Any interruption in this line prevents the outdoor controller from receiving commands like target RPM, expansion valve position, and fan speed.

Shielded cables are highly recommended for runs exceeding 10 meters. 2. **Terminal Contact Cleaning:** Clean any moisture, oil, or dust deposits from terminals using electrical contact cleaner spray. 3. **Signal Trace Testing:** Measure the DC voltage between Terminal N (Neutral) and Terminal S (Signal). * If the voltage fluctuates between 10V DC and 60V DC, communication is active. * If voltage is dead (0V DC), inspect the indoor PCB fuse (typically a 3.15A glass fuse) and the varistor. 4. **IPM and Optocoupler Inspection:** If the signal is present at the indoor unit but fails to register at the outdoor unit, check the optocouplers (4-pin ICs) on the outdoor PCB. These chips electrically isolate the signal line from the main board processor and can blow during voltage surges.
